Adoption Made Possible provides a combination of adoption financial education and financial assistance to Alaskan families journeying through the adoption process. We have broken adoption funding into a simple three-step process that makes adoption financially possible for Alaskan families. The applicant’s participation in the adoption expense estimator will be the basis for the amount of support in each of the three steps.

SELF FUNDED

In the first step, adoption expense education is available on this website to assist perspective parents to estimate their total adoption cost. Perspective parents must demonstrate financial commitment to the adoption process by self-funding the first third of the total estimated adoption expense. Financial commitment is demonstrated by saving funds, fundraising or incurred adoption expenditures that total to one-third of the total estimated adoption expense.

LOAN FUNDED

In the second step, Adoption Made Possible facilitates a loan, for one-third of the estimated adoption expense, through the Prosper.com Peer-to-Peer lending platform to cover the continuing expenses of the adoption process following completion of an adoption home study.  This loan is expected to be repaid through the federal adoption credit or other grants received after the completion of the adoption process.

GRANT FUNDED

The third step of the process is a direct grant for the final one-third of the adoption expense given to the adoptive family to cover final adoption and incidental costs. The grant is given following acceptance of an adoption referral for a specific child.
